A Day In Paris: 5 hotspots

By Unknown - 17:54:00

Hey guys!
Last week we already posted two travel posts and this week I'm posting the third! Two weeks ago Karlijn and I both travelled to different cities. Karlijn went to Brussels with her boyfriend and I went with Art class to Amsterdam and... Paris! In this post I'll tell you all about that day and the (less usual) hotspots I've visited. So if you're going to Paris soon and are looking for places to visit or you just love Paris a lot like me, read along...

1. Musée d'Orsay

First, we went to Musée d'Orsay which is a big art museum in an old train station of Paris. In this museum you can find a lot of art from the 19th century, in particular art of the greatest French artists. Famous works of Claude Monet, Édouard Manet and Edgar Degas can be found here. You can also find the famous (and shocking) painting L'Origine du Monde by Gustave Courbet at Musée d'Orsay. If you're wondering what the painting looks like, google it. But I warn you, it's a bit of an odd painting...
You should definitely visit Musée d'Orsay if you love art or museums. In my opinion it's a bit underappreciated because everyone always talks about Musée du Louvre, which is amazing, but there are more beautiful museums to discover in Paris and Musée d'Orsay is definitely one of them.

2. Musée Rodin

After Musée d'Orsay we went to the next and last museum of the day: Musée Rodin. Rodin is a famous French sculptor. Unfortunately they are busy with renovation until September 2015 so we couldn't visit the collection but the museum has a beautiful and big yard with some sculptures of Rodin. so we decided to hang out there. While we were eating our lunch, the sun began to shine and it became a little warmer. It's such an amazing spot to take a break from the big busy city and to relax and just enjoy nature.

3. Opéra Garnier

Next was the Opéra Garnier also know as Palais Garnier or Opéra National de Paris. I was really excited about this hotspot because of The Phantom of the Opera. I love the film and music so much and the Opéra Garnier is the opera of the story. And, wow, this building is absolutely beautiful on the outside and the inside. My mouth dropped open when I walked inside. I was overwhelmed by all the paintings and decorations, so beautiful. I can't describe how beautiful it is, you should visit it yourself, I really recommend it! It was definitely my favourite hotspot of the day.

4. Sainte-Chapelle

After the Opera we went to the Île de la Cité where our last two hotspots were located. First we went to the Palais de Justice where we would visit the Sainte-Chapelle, a royal medieval Gothic chapel. You can also find the Conciergerie here, a former prison which is now a museum (Marie Antoinette was imprisoned here). The Saint-Chapelle was especially built for the king of France in the beginning of the 13th century and they say it had a very important relic: the Crown of Thorns of Jesus.
The chapel is really impressive because of all the stained glass, it's so beautiful. I definitely recommend going to this chapel, especially if you love to visit churches.

5. Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris

After the Sainte-Chapelle we headed towards our last hotspot of the day: Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris. It was only three minutes walking from the chapel. The Notre Dame was the only hotspot I've been before but it has been a long time so I was excited to go there again. It's such an impressive building, I loved taking pictures of it. I'm sure most of you are familiar with the Notre Dame because it's definitely one of the most famous hotspots of Paris. If you're going to Paris for a day you should definitely pay it a visit. I have to say though, you can see it's a popular building because I had to pay €2,50 to lit a candle. After the Notre Dame we had some free time for diner in the Quartier Latin, which is known for its students life, bistros and the low prices of these. We went to an Italian bistro and relaxed a bit until we had to go back to the parking lot to drive back to the Netherlands.

I've had a wonderful day in Paris. This city keeps amazing me, no matter how many times I've been here before.

I hope you find this article usual for your future trip to Paris or, if you're not going anytime soon, just liked reading it!
Have you ever been to Paris and what was your favourite hotspot?
