Paris for the weekend

By Unknown - 12:46:00

Hi everyone!
I hope you're all doing well. I know it has been a while again, but I have been so busy with my study and arranging everything for my exchange, I didn't have the time to blog. But good news, I passed my thesis and exams, which means I almost have my bachelor degree! I only need to go to Italy and pass my courses there and then I am done with my bachelor!
This weekend I went to Paris with my boyfriend. He gave this trip to me for my birthday in November, so sweet! If you know me, you know that I have been several times to Paris, so I have seen most of the touristic spots already. That is why we explored some more alternative areas in Paris this weekend, but of course, we had to visit the highlights again. Read along if you're interested in the photos I have made this weekend!

We arrived on Friday night on Gare du Nord with the Thalys from Rotterdam CS. We went straight to our hotel since it was pretty late already. We stayed in Hotel Montmarte Clignancourt and our room had a balcony with a nice view of the Parisian streets and the Sacre Coeur.

We started Saturday with a petit déjeuner in a random cafe near the Sacre Coeur and after breakfast, we strolled around Montmarte.

In the afternoon, we went to Île de la Cité to walk around and to take a look at the high tide of the Seine. We also visited the Galeries LaFayette and some other shops, but I didn't buy anything.
In the evening, we had a nice (and cheap!) French dinner at a place called L'Anvers du Decor, which was near our hotel. I finally tried escargots, which were pretty good! I also had Confit de Canard, one of my favourite French dishes. After dinner, we did some drinks in Montmarte. We tried to find some cheap places but drinks are expensive everywhere in Paris...

On Sunday, we wanted to visit the Champs-Elysées and Tour Eiffel. The Champs-Elysées was closed down for cars that day, so it was less crowded than usual. We also visited the area St. Germain since I wanted to go to the Brandy Melville. St. Germain is so pretty to walk around, I would recommend going there if you're in love with the Parisian architecture like me. After St. Germain, we visited the shopping mall Les Halles, because it was cold outside and we wanted to relax a bit.
In the evening, we had dinner in the Quartier Latin at a place called Polidor, which was very cheap for Parisian restaurants! If you want to have food that is "Instagrammable", I would not recommend it, but it tasted good and the service was great! After dinner, we went to Rue de la Huchette, a street full of restaurants and bars in Quartier Latin, to have some drinks in a piano bar, which was very nice.

On our last day, we visited some less popular areas of Paris, while it was snowing! We started the day with a petit déjeuner in the area Belleville. We wanted to visit this area since there is a street full of street art (Rue Dénoyex), and my boyfriend and I love street art. We had breakfast at the cafe Aux Folies, which is next to the Rue Dénoyez. After walking down the Rue Dénoyez and taking a lot of photos, we strolled a bit more around before we took the metro to the area Bastille.
We visited the Promenade Plantée, which is a green walk on an abandoned railway viaduct. It was snowing, which made it look very magical. After the promenade, we had lunch at Terrasse de Lyon, before going to the Rue Crémieux. This is a street full of colourful houses in the 12th arrondissement and it is just picture perfect!
Lastly, we visited the area Le Marais, which is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Paris and where the oldest square of Paris is located. The area has many alleys with cute houses and it is perfect to stroll around in the afternoon. Again, if you love Parisian architecture like me, you should visit this area!

So that's it! I hope you liked the photos and got some inspiration for your next trip to Paris! I had a great time with my boyfriend and I've fallen even more in love with Paris. If you want to see more photos, you can check out my Instagram! At the end of this month, I will go to Italy to study a semester abroad, so you can expect more travel photos on my Instagram, and hopefully more blogposts too!
